Smartwatch Wars: The Apple Watch versus Android Wear, in screenshots (Part 2)

Part 1

The Apple watch has a contacts list, while Android Wear really doesn’t. If it needs a contact, you’ve got to speak it.

Apple definitely has Google “beat” in terms of information density. Here Wear takes three screens to show what Apple does in one. We aren’t sure if that’s good or not on a tiny watch, though.

Apple shows a weather breakdown by time, while Google only shows the current weather. Again, Apple is way denser.

This also shows the weather, but this is in response to a voice query.

Apple shows information about attachments, favoriting, and the time something arrives, while Google strips away everything and just shows text.

Apple’s messaging app can show rich content like a map of where someone is. Google, again, is just text. It also looks like Apple has the current message and history on one screen.

Apple’s map shows an actual map, while Google only shows a list of directions.

Apple’s fitness tracking includes standing, exercising, and moving, while Google just tracks steps via a pedometer.

How’s this for a difference in density? The dueling stopwatch apps couldn’t be more different.

Apple shows a whole clock for the alarm app, while Google shows a list of times you can scroll through.

The same goes for the timer.

Apple’s stocks app shows more information, while Google’s spends screen real estate on a picture.

Just like e-mail, for the calendar, Google hides additional events under a “more” button.

Here’s another wildly different approach. Apple’s camera app shows what looks like a viewfinder. (Can you really live stream video over bluetooth?) Google’s is just a big button.

The settings. Pretty samey here; it’s a scrolling list.
