Overview of job

The Programmer/DevOps Technician must have a good understanding of the DevOps and Agile frameworks.  The Programmer/DevOps Technician must be equally adept at light programming and complex scripting as well as creating and maintaining our hosting environment.

The responsibilities of the Programmer/DevOps Technician include:

1. Assist our lead developer with complicated programming tasks as needed.
2. Automate with scripting our server and small CI/CD pipeline
3. Manage and maintain our growing Docker and Kubernetes environment
4. Help grow our use of Ansible to automate all Linux and OSX updates and upgrades.
5. Stay current with web frameworks and backend technologies.
6. As the Programmer/DevOps Technician, one will support our Lead Developer on all new projects and initiatives.  They will design and then provision a development, staging, and production environment for all projects.
7. Security and maintenance of custom applications and their environments will be the responsibility of the Programmer/DevOps Technician.
8. Respond to performance complaints and support our Lead Developer in making corrections as needed.
9. Support the school as we slowly move toward a colocation or cloud-based hosting model.
10. Undergo training to improve his skill base.
11. Work with the IT Director to establish goals and objectives to improve the quality of service provided.
12. Attend technology department meetings when requested.
13. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the ICT Director.
