Analyzes proposed computer applications in terms of equipment requirements and capabilities. Writes new programs and analyzes, reviews, and rewrites existing programs to solve problems, increase operating efficiency, or adapt to new requirements. Prepares test data. Corrects program errors. Documents the methods and procedures used in developing, testing and correcting programs. Assists in designing programs and systems architecture; preparing program specifications; coding, testing, and debugging computer programs. Experience in FORTRAN is required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Fortran developer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding and proficiency in Fortran programming.
- Experience with scientific and engineering computing applications.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies.
- Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting Fortran applications.
- Experience with code optimization and refactoring for performance improvements.
- Competence in conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
- Ability to perform unit testing and validate code changes effectively.
- Familiarity with integrating Fortran applications with other software systems.
- Solid understanding of modern computing environments and migration processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Strong documentation skills for code and development processes.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Fortran and scientific computing.
