A – Job summary

The Database and Systems Specialist will support the school with connecting all custom and purchased programs insuring that the right data is available to the end user at all times.

B – Essential duties and responsibilities 

The responsibilities of the programmer include:

1. Manage and maintain our collection of SQL based databases
2. Insure connectivity with Active Directory and Google
3. Support data flow to and from on premise and cloud based solutions using APIs
4. Stay abreast with current database technology, web frameworks and API technology
5. Provide user support for developed applications.
6. Undergo training to constantly improve their skill base.
7. Work with the IT Director to establish goals and objectives to improve the quality of service provided.
8. Attend technology department meetings when requested.
9. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the ICT Director.

• Knowledge, Education and Experience:
  • Database Development and integration (MS SQL, MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres, Oracle, Json, ODBC)
  • Basic Web Application Development             
    • Front-end: Javascript, JQuery, ReactJS, Flux, CSS, HTML 
    • Back-end: Python, PHP
    • CMS: Django, WordPress, Joomla or similar
  • Basic understanding of Version Control Software (GIT, Gitlab)
  • Tools/Platforms: Active Directory, Nginix, Docker, Docker Builder, Shell/Bash scripting, Powershell.
  • Operating System: MacOS/Linux
  • Python 3.x fluency
• Skills:
  • Good at oral and written English
• Abilities:
  • Work well with people
  • A dedication to continually update knowledge
  • Able to explain technical problems in simple terms
